Job Summary:

GFL Environmental is seeking a highly skilled Yard Operations Leader to join our team. As a key member of our operations team, you will be responsible for providing safe, efficient, and effective yard operations in support of our facility re-refining activity.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Ensure safe working practices and procedures are followed at all times.
  • Work effectively in a team environment to achieve operational goals and objectives.
  • Operate and maintain yard pumping systems, including loading and offloading tanker trucks and rail tank cars.
  • Conduct proper segregation of materials and products to ensure quality and minimize processing costs.
  • Accurately complete shipping and receiving documentation, including scale tickets, manifests, and bills of lading.
  • Document dangerous goods in compliance with regulations.
  • Conduct sampling and testing as required.
  • Work within regulatory guidelines and company policies.
  • Train on unfamiliar processes and equipment.
  • Acquire and maintain required certifications.
  • Follow environmental protocols and requirements.
  • Participate in safety meetings and investigations.
  • Provide quality service to internal and external customers.
  • Ensure quality control of finished products.
  • Maintain safe and clean equipment and work area.
  • Participate as a team member in facility operations.
  • Perform other operational duties as assigned.
  • Work in an outdoor setting in various weather conditions.
  • Maintain a clean and organized work environment.
  • Carry out duties in a high-energy work environment.

Requirements:

  • High School diploma or equivalent.
  • Refinery tank farm or loading/offloading operating experience is an asset.
  • Forklift experience is an asset.

Skills and Abilities:

  • Strong written communication skills to complete required paperwork.
  • Effective verbal communication skills to interact with staff, contractors, and customers.
  • Ability to multi-task, exercise good judgment, and think proactively.
  • Work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Excellent customer service skills and a strong work ethic.

This is a safety-sensitive position. Offers of employment are conditional upon successful completion of required pre-employment medical, physical, drug, and alcohol testing.
