Health Information Management Advisor

We are seeking a highly skilled Health Information Management Advisor to join our team at Northern Health Authority. As a key member of our Health Information Management department, you will play a vital role in ensuring the accurate and efficient collection, access, and use of health information.
Key Responsibilities
• Provide leadership and guidance to the Health Information Management team on the development and application of health information standards in records management, release of information, and registration.
• Collaborate with the HIM Coordinator – Professional Practice to evaluate adherence to HIM standards and develop strategies for improvement.
• Assist in the development, testing, implementation, and maintenance of health information systems and applications, including training and support for internal and external users.
• Facilitate organizational changes resulting from the implementation and ongoing use of health information systems, policies, and procedures.
Requirements
• Graduation from a recognized Health Information Management program.
• Certification by the Canadian College of Health Information Management and eligibility for active membership with the Canadian Health Information Management Association.
• One year's recent related experience in a HIMS department of an acute care health care facility or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
• Current valid BC Driver's License.

Qualifications
• Graduation from a recognized Health Information Management program.
• Certification by the Canadian College of Health Information Management and eligibility for active membership with the Canadian Health Information Management Association.
• One year's recent related experience in a HIMS department of an acute care health care facility or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
• Current valid BC Driver's License.
Skills and Abilities
• Teaching: Ability to teach clients and others both one-on-one and in groups.
• Knowledge Integration: Knowledge of protection of privacy and freedom of information legislation, patient's rights to confidentiality, and legal requirements to produce records.
• Communication: Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively with clients, families, the public, medical staff, and the members of the interdisciplinary team using oral, written, and computer communication means.
• Critical Thinking: Demonstrated ability to integrate and evaluate pertinent data to problem-solve and make decisions effectively.
• Management: Demonstrated ability to organize work, set objectives, and establish priorities.
• Leadership: Promotes staff morale, engagement, and risk-taking.
• Teamwork: Demonstrated ability to foster teamwork and a commitment to excellence in the provision of client care.
• Equipment: Demonstrated computer skills, including the use of Cerner, Med2020, and Windows-based programs.
• Physical ability to perform the duties of the position.
