The Nova Scotia Health Authority is seeking a medical specialist to join their team in New Glasgow. As a hospitalist, you will provide care to patients within the Northern Zone and participate in call. This is a full-time or part-time opportunity, and you will be responsible to the Zone Department Head of Family Practice for your professional responsibilities and quality of practice.

The Aberdeen Hospital, located in New Glasgow, is a dynamic and collaborative environment that values collegiality and provides high-quality care to patients. As a hospitalist, you will have the opportunity to engage in research and/or have medical teaching positions with Dalhousie University, should that be of interest. The current remuneration arrangement is a set daily rate as per the provincial hospitalist agreement with a stipend, plus fee-for-service billings for on-call work.

Responsibilities
  • Provide full scope of practice as a hospitalist, including care to patients within the Northern Zone and participation in call
  • Be responsible to the Zone Department Head of Family Practice for professional responsibilities and quality of practice
Qualifications
  • Be eligible for licensure with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Nova Scotia
  • Be eligible for certification with the College of Family Physicians of Canada
  • Be a member of the Canadian Medical Protective Association
Working Environment

The Aberdeen Hospital is approximately 1.5 hours from the region's tertiary care pediatric facility, the IWK Health Centre, which provides neonatal support. You will be working with a team of colleagues in family medicine, obstetrics/gynecology, internal medicine, emergency medicine, general surgery, psychiatry, pediatrics, ophthalmology, anesthesia, radiology, palliative care, and medical oncology.
