About the Role

Nova Scotia Health is seeking a highly skilled Medical Device Processing Specialist to join our team.

This is a permanent part-time position with 45 hours biweekly, including days, evenings, weekends, holidays, and on-call shifts.

The successful candidate will be responsible for performing cleaning and sterilizing duties to meet the needs of departmental customers, following policies and procedures of the service.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Rotating through the decontamination area, processing area, and distribution area to process medical devices.
  • Making up and distributing case carts and other sterile items to internal and external partners/clients.
  • Maintaining high standards of infection control and personal safety practices.
  • Lifting trays and other articles weighing approximately 25lbs and moving rolling weights in excess of 50lbs.
Requirements:

To be successful in this role, you will require:

  • A high school graduation or equivalent.
  • Successful completion of a recognized medical device reprocessing education program.
  • Certification as a Medical Device Reprocessing Technician is preferred.
  • Experience in medical device reprocessing and knowledge of instrumentation, medical terminology, and infection control practices.

You must also possess excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work independently and as part of a team.
