Your Role

We are looking for a Senior Transportation Engineer & Project Manager with 10-15 years of relevant experience to expand our presence in Ontario, particularly in Hamilton, London, and Waterloo. This team offers consulting services for Class Environmental Assessments, Preliminary Designs, and Detailed Design projects for public sector clients, including various municipalities and the Ministry of Transportation in Ontario.

The ideal candidate will hold a P.Eng. license in Ontario and will be responsible for overseeing projects, providing guidance across various technical disciplines, managing staffing, and driving marketing and business development efforts.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage projects, including proposal preparation, scope definition, budgeting, invoicing, and scheduling.
  • Develop and prepare engineering design plans, ensuring coordination among disciplines.
  • Conduct QA/QC reviews of design plans to ensure compliance with established standards and guidelines.
  • Engage with clients and agencies to discuss project data, requirements, and progress.
  • Prepare and negotiate scopes of work and cost estimates.
  • Oversee project financials, including invoicing and cash collections, while maximizing project profitability.
  • Collaborate with Transportation Leaders and other Project Managers to assess staffing, equipment, and training needs.
  • Support the Stantec Quality Management System and promote our Environmental Health & Safety initiatives.

Qualifications

Skills and Credentials

  • Demonstrated experience in project management.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication abilities.
  • Familiarity with relevant roadway and highway design guidelines, including the TAC Geometric Design Guide.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
  • Experience with design software such as AutoCAD, Civil 3D, MicroStation, and InRoads.
  • Background in marketing, proposal development, fee estimation, negotiations, and contract management.

Education and Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Ontario P.Eng. designation with a minimum of 10 years of progressive experience in roadway and highway design.
