Qualifications and Experience

We are seeking a highly qualified and experienced educator to join our team as a French Immersion Teacher. The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in teaching a second language and have experience working with students in a northern community.

Key Responsibilities

  • Teach French Immersion courses to students in grades 8-12
  • Develop and implement engaging lesson plans that cater to diverse learning styles
  • Assess student progress and provide constructive feedback
  • Collaborate with colleagues to plan and deliver programs and assessments
  • Integrate technology into teaching practices to enhance student learning

Requirements

  • Bachelor of Education Degree (specialization in French Immersion preferred)
  • Valid NWT Teaching Certificate or eligibility for certification
  • Experience teaching in a northern community and understanding of Indigenous cultures an asset
  • Ability to teach in a second language at a Grade 8-12 level
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to work as part of a team

Preferred Qualifications

  • Knowledge of second language methodology and experience in teaching a second language
  • Experience with differentiated instruction and authentic assessment
  • Ability to integrate spirituality and faith into teaching practices
