Job Summary

We are seeking a highly qualified French Immersion Teacher to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for teaching French Immersion classes to students in grades 5-7.

Key Responsibilities
  • Teach French Immersion classes to students in grades 5-7
  • Develop and implement engaging lesson plans that meet the needs of diverse learners
  • Assess student progress and adjust instruction accordingly
  • Collaborate with colleagues to plan and deliver programs
  • Communicate effectively with students, parents, and colleagues
Requirements
  • Bachelor of Education Degree (specialization in French Immersion preferred)
  • NWT Teaching Certificate
  • Must be bilingual (French/English)
  • Preference will be given to those with experience teaching at the Grade 5-7 level
  • Preference will be given to those with experience/education in some or all of the following: Literacy, numeracy, differentiated instruction, and authentic assessment
  • Knowledge in teaching a second language methodology
  • Understands how to integrate spirituality and faith into teaching practices
  • Knowledge of, and experience in the effective use of technology as a learning tool
  • Experience teaching in a northern community and an understanding of Indigenous cultures would be an asset
