Job Title: Elementary French Immersion Teacher

Job Summary:

The York Region District School Board is seeking a highly qualified and dedicated Elementary French Immersion Teacher to join our team. As a French Immersion Teacher, you will play a vital role in shaping the educational experience of our students and promoting a love of learning in a bilingual environment.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Develop and implement engaging lesson plans that cater to the diverse needs of students in a French Immersion setting.
  • Collaborate with colleagues to create a cohesive and supportive learning environment that fosters academic excellence and social growth.
  • Assess student progress and adjust instruction to meet the needs of all learners.
  • Communicate effectively with parents and guardians to keep them informed of student progress and involve them in the educational process.
  • Participate in professional development opportunities to stay current with best practices in French Immersion education.
Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in Education or a related field.
  • Eligibility for a Northwest Territories teaching certificate.
  • Strong understanding of Indigenous cultures, history, and traditions.
  • Experience in implementing Inquiry-based instructional pedagogy.
  • Experience in curriculum implementation, with a focus on competency-based education.
  • Experience in competency-based assessment and evaluation.
  • Demonstrated commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion.
  • An understanding of the Northwest Territories' Inclusive Schooling practices.
  • Knowledge of land-based education principles and practices.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
