Grocery Department Manager

Job Summary:
The Grocery Manager will oversee the daily operations of the Grocery Department, ensuring alignment with our Core Values and Brand.
Key Responsibilities:
- Understand and follow Westview Co-op's Health and Safety Program and promote a culture of safety, including all Food Safety standards.
- Provide exceptional guest service to our members and guests, living by our Brand expectations through our "You're at Home Here" motto.
- Lead the direction for team members in all areas, including performance management, talent development, engagement, talent acquisition, orientation, and onboarding.
- Responsible for the overall safe and effective operation of the Grocery Department, including scheduling, ensuring orders are placed, and maintaining Brand Standards.
- Provide exceptional member service.
- Maintain staff levels by recruiting, selecting, orienting, developing personal growth opportunities, and training employees.
- Maintain a safe, secure, and legal work environment.
- Achieve results by communicating job expectations, planning, monitoring, and appraising performance through talent management, including coaching and disciplining employees.
- Coordinate workloads and enforce systems, policies, procedures, and productivity standards.
- Establish strategic goals by gathering pertinent business, financial, service, and operational information; identifying and evaluating trends and options; choosing a course of action; defining objectives; and evaluating outcomes.
- Achieve financial objectives by forecasting requirements, preparing annual budgets, controlling expenditures, analyzing variances, and initiating corrective actions.
- Maintain exceptional service by enforcing quality customer interactions and solving problems.
- Pursue continual learning by attending educational workshops available on the CRS hub and CRS courses and marketing meetings.
Requirements:
- Food Safe Certification.
- 3-5 years of experience in a supervisory role in the retail food industry.
- Self-motivated, reliable, responsible, friendly, and hardworking.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Skills in performance management, coaching, supervision, quality management, results achievement, developing budgets, implementing standards, fostering teamwork, and leading a team.
- Ability to handle pressure and provide feedback to employees in tough or uncomfortable situations.
- Commitment to cooperative values and principles.
- Sense of urgency and customer-first attitude.
- Physically capable of performing dynamic and static movements, repetitive motions, and repeated lifting of up to 50 lbs unassisted.
- Ability to work in cool and damp environments.
- The successful applicant would be subject to a criminal record check and employment verification.
