At Aviva, we're looking for a skilled National Property Claims Examiner to join our team. As a key member of our National Property Claims team, you'll be responsible for overseeing and managing third-party adjusted claims and direct-handled claims.
Key responsibilities include:
- Managing a portfolio of examining and direct-handled property claims
- Resource field work to be completed by IA, setting clear expectations and timelines, and managing the file through to completion
- Arranging market calls or working with various insurers on subscription claims
- Preparing and presenting a complete file strategy, coverage analysis, disposition, and business case
- Investigating claims by reviewing IA reports and specialists to acquire facts and information to analyze the loss
- Reviewing and compiling facts, policies, technical reports, analyzing estimates, value of claim, and settling claims
- Communicating claim adjustments via written reports to all parties, based on policy wording and circumstances surrounding the loss to resolve the claim
- Providing outstanding service to our customers
- Responsible for data accuracy and issuing payments to vendors, insureds, and specialists
- Ensuring all correspondence is completed in a timely and effective manner, including the creation of Critical Path Letters, Proof of Losses, and Reservation of Rights letters, etc.
- Recognizing questionable claims, subrogation, and risk opportunities
Requirements include:
- Detailed knowledge of the property insurance industry
- At least 5+ years of commercial and residential property experience
- Strong construction knowledge
- Strong digital literacy
- Strong solid understanding of property insurance case law
- Detailed knowledge of a variety of property coverage wordings
- Some basic accounting skills
- Outstanding communication and negotiation skills
- Excellent report writing skills
- Licensing in NB, PEI & NFLD (asset)

Salary range: $65,000 - $90,000. Please note that the indicated salary range is an estimate and may vary based on multiple factors, including experience, skills, and qualifications.
