About the Role

We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Community Outreach Advocate to join our team at the Prince George Native Friendship Center. As an Adult Outreach Worker, you will play a vital role in providing outreach and support to adults who are part of Community Living BC.

Job Summary

The successful candidate will work in a team environment, providing specific support to individuals with diverse abilities, helping them navigate their journey towards independent living, employment readiness, job search, and social development. This position requires flexibility, including evening and weekend hours, as well as participation in the on-call crisis response system.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide outreach services in the community, building relationships with individuals and supporting their unique needs;
  • Assist clients in developing life skills, such as daily living, financial management, and social skills;
  • Collaborate with healthcare professionals, social workers, and other stakeholders to ensure comprehensive care;
  • Maintain accurate records and reports, documenting client progress and program effectiveness;
  • Participate in regular team meetings, contributing ideas and expertise to improve service delivery;
Requirements
  • A Diploma in Community Social Services, Social Work, or a related field (or equivalent experience);
  • Experience working with Indigenous communities and cultures, preferably in a culturally sensitive context;
  • Hold current certifications in First Aid, Class 4 Driver's License, Therapeutic Crisis Intervention, Suicide Intervention, and Food Safe;
  • Ability to pass a successful criminal record check;
  • Sensitivity to and understanding of Indigenous history and culture, as well as working experience with diverse populations;
  • Flexibility to work varying hours, including evenings and weekends, as required;
  • Preferrable: Indigenous ancestry, in accordance with section 41 of the BC Human Rights Code;
  • Starting wage: $24-$28 per hour, commensurate with qualifications and experience.
