This position requires an individual with knowledge of health and social determinants specific to our community. The Homeless Prevention Worker provides outreach and support to adults who are homeless or at risk of being homeless.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide day-to-day support, crisis support, advocacy, intake/needs assessments, and referrals to community-based programming.
  • Work in a team environment to provide specific support to individuals to attain or maintain housing.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • A Diploma preferably in Community Social Services, Social Work, or a combination of education and experience.
  • Willingness and ability to work with at-risk adults in various settings, including their own residences.
  • Awareness of community services, resources, and systems.
  • A basic knowledge of group facilitation, skill training, and individual intervention techniques.
  • Experience working with Aboriginal groups/communities in a cultural context.
  • Certification: First Aid, Class 4 Driver's License, CPI, Suicide Intervention, and Food Safe.
  • Ability to undergo a successful criminal record search.
  • Must have experience with various community resources, services, and systems or awareness of how they can assist adults in need.
  • Strong knowledge of professionalism and ethics when working with community members facing multiple barriers.
  • A thorough appreciation, awareness, working experience, and sensitivity of Indigenous history and culture.
  • Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends.

Estimated Salary: $27.50-$32.50 per hour, based on experience and education.
