Job Summary: The Hamilton Regional Indian Centre is seeking a skilled Indigenous Housing Stability Navigator to join our team. As a key member of our staff, you will play a vital role in providing individualized case management to support clients in maintaining and sustaining their housing in a good way.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Work closely with other case management staff and existing clients to transition clients into securing and stabilizing their housing.
  • Identify goals, strengthen life skills, and provide appropriate referrals to assist clients in working through any barriers that may deter a healthy lifestyle.
  • Collaborate with other program staff to deliver workshops and events to enhance wrap-around services for clients and strengthen community education.
  • Provide crisis management, advocacy, and outreach as required.

Requirements:

  • 2-year College diploma in Social Service work, Indigenous Studies, or a combination of relevant education and experience.
  • 2-years of demonstrated and related work experience within an Indigenous organization or community, homelessness and/or social service setting, or a combination of equivalent experience as deemed relevant by the Executive Director.
  • Experience in case management, planning, and coordination for people with complex support needs.
  • Demonstrated ability to build and maintain lasting working relationships.
  • Ability to work flexible hours including some evenings and weekends.
  • Proficiency in MS Office applications and other database applications- statistical and narrative reporting.
  • First Aid/CPR and non-violent crisis intervention certification or be willing to be certified is an asset.
  • Valid driver's licence with clear driving record is an asset.
  • Must have or obtain, within 30 days of hiring date, a clean Criminal Record and Judicial Matters (CPIC) check with Vulnerable Sector Search (VSS) as a condition of the employment offer.
