Role Overview

RVA Group seeks a highly motivated and energetic Strategic HR Partner to join our HR Team. This role will report to the company HR Manager and collaborate with the broader Human Resources team and management to ensure that every employee experience at RVA is exceptional.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist with the administration of benefits and pension plan programs, providing staff with enrollment kits when necessary, opening online accounts, answering staff queries, and offering training and troubleshooting support.
  • Manage leaves of absence, determine possible accommodations, and develop return-to-work strategies, coordinating with benefit partners.
  • Work closely with management and employees to create accommodation plans as needed.
  • Collaborate with the senior talent acquisition specialist to provide effective recruiting for professional and administrative teams.
  • Participate in health and safety initiatives, including ISO 45001 certification and Joint Health and Safety Committees.
  • Process worker's compensation claims across provinces and facilitate back-to-work accommodations as required.
  • Support management at all levels with employee relations and performance management.
  • Provide counsel and feedback to improve ongoing performance, coaching, and performance improvement plans.
  • Respond to employee inquiries about company policies, practices, programs, and processes related to their experience.
  • Serve as a liaison between management and employees, facilitating situations by addressing questions and resolving work-related problems.
  • Facilitate performance management meetings, including disciplinary actions up to termination, and maintain documentation.
  • Analyze employee records to answer inquiries and provide information for HR actions and reports.
  • Promote social activities and ESG initiatives engaging employees.
  • Promote diversity, equality, and inclusion initiatives engaging employees.
  • Stay up-to-date with provincial employment legislation, human rights laws, and health and safety regulations.
  • Use relevant knowledge and judgment to determine compliance with laws, regulations, and human rights standards.
  • Assist with project work and change management to support various HR initiatives.
  • Improve manager and employee performance by identifying and clarifying problems, evaluating potential solutions, implementing selected solutions, coaching, and counseling managers and employees.
  • Perform confidential investigations as directed/instructed.
  • Promote HR initiatives and work with the management team to achieve goals and objectives.
  • Participate in recruiting processes, including candidate screening, interviews, and onboarding/offboarding as required.
  • Contribute to rolling out various human capital programs, such as employee engagement, talent reviews, and health & wellness initiatives.
  • Support ongoing projects and other HR tasks as assigned, as appropriate for this position.
  • Work closely with management to understand the strategic direction of the company and determine the skills and competencies required to achieve these goals.
  • Establish a system for ongoing feedback from employees and leaders to ensure continuous improvement and evolving strategic priorities.

Requirements

  • University degree or College diploma in Human Resources, Business, or a related field.
  • 10+ years' experience in a similar role.
  • CHRP or CHRL designation is required.
  • Solid understanding of Employment Legislation, including the Employment Standards Act, Ontario Human Rights Code, and HR best practices for various provinces in Canada.
  • Broad knowledge of human resources functions and procedures.
  • Ability to handle sensitive information while maintaining strict confidentiality.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, including team-building skills.
  • Excellent attention to detail, strong analytical, and follow-up skills.
  • Possess excellent interpersonal and decision-making skills.
  • Strong computer skills, including demonstrated knowledge of MS Word, Outlook, Excel, and web-based programs.
  • Ability to adapt to changes in the work environment, manage competing demands, and deal with frequent change, delays, or unexpected events.
  • Ability to collaborate and deliver excellent internal client service, supporting business goals.
