Societe Generale, a leading international financial services company, is seeking an experienced Strategic Risk Model Governance Specialist to join its Risk Management Division in Montreal. This role plays a critical part in ensuring the effective management of model risks across the Americas region.

The successful candidate will be responsible for managing the Model Inventory and overseeing the implementation of model risk governance processes. They will also engage with model owners, users, and developers to ensure the accuracy and reliability of models used in decision-making processes.

To succeed in this role, you will need strong knowledge of model risk regulatory requirements (SR11-07) and industry-standard practices. Experience in drafting policy and procedure documentation is essential, as is the ability to collaborate effectively with colleagues and partners.

This position requires a comprehensive understanding of the model lifecycle, including model development and validation processes, risk rating, and controls. You will work closely with the Head of Model Risk Governance to ensure the consistent implementation of the Model Risk Governance framework across all models at Societe Generale in the Americas.

As a Strategic Risk Model Governance Specialist, you will be responsible for:

  • Contribution to the enhancement of the AMER model risk appetite and management framework definition
  • Engagement of model owners/users/developers for the collation and ongoing maintenance of the SG AMER Model Inventory
  • Management of the model approval process, administration for initial use approval, subsequent approvals, and model change oversight
  • Coordination with Model Validation teams for the firm's models; definition of validation priorities for both in-house and vendor models
  • Performance of quality controls on the independent reviews performed by Validation teams

The ideal candidate will have a Bachelor's degree in Finance, Economics, or a related discipline, with a minimum of three years' experience in Model Risk Management-related areas. Strong communication skills are essential, as is the ability to work in a hybrid environment with flexible working arrangements.

This position comes with a competitive compensation package, including a base salary of $95,000, plus benefits such as 20 vacation days, health spending account, and personal spending account. The company also offers fully sponsored virtual healthcare assistance and an Employee Assistance Program.
