Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Marine Inspector to join our team at Livebunkers. This is an exciting opportunity for an individual with a strong background in marine assurance and inspection services.

About the Role

The Marine Inspector will play a crucial role in ensuring that commodities meet customer standards and industry regulations. Key responsibilities include rendering timely, safe, legal, ethical, and effective commodity inspection services, performing volume measurements, temperature measurements, sampling, calculations, documentation, and reporting.

Responsibilities
  • Loading Holds Inspection: Ensure all relevant loading holds are inspected and found to be dry and substantially clean to load designated cargo.
  • Hold Inspection Reporting: Issue Hold Inspection report recording inspected holds, time and date, and any notes required.
  • Cross-Functional Coordination: Communicate and coordinate with terminal, agent, and Company personnel to promote smooth exercise of duties assigned.
  • Draft Surveys: Perform Draft Surveys of Bulk Cargo carriers.
  • Equipment Calibration: Perform routine equipment calibration, verification, and function checks.
  • Bulk Cargo Vessel Assessment: Assess the condition of bulk cargo vessels and document on-hire conditions surveys.
  • Bunker Quantity Surveys: Perform bunker quantity surveys as well as full bunkering surveys according to client required procedures.
  • Result Verification: Verify and communicate the results obtained, and to make the entries into the appropriate media, whether print or electronic, required ensuring the validity and traceability of the information.
  • Training and Development: Assist in the training of less experienced employees.
Requirements
  • Certified Master Mariner: The Surveyor must be a certified Master Mariner.
  • Physical Ability: The Surveyor must be physically able to do the work required, and cannot have fear of heights or of confined spaces.
  • Attitude and Tolerance: The Surveyor should have a positive attitude, a high tolerance for job pressure and long hours, and the ability for working and communicating with persons of diverse personalities and backgrounds.
Additional Responsibilities (Senior Inspector)
  • Inspector Training: Train new inspectors.
  • Inspector Files Maintenance: Maintain inspector training files up to date.
  • Safety Audit and Field Audit: Perform periodic safety audit and inspector field audit.
  • Maintenance and Monitoring: Monitor Inspectors' field activities to determine conformance with authorized procedures and good practices, and to make, or arrange to have made, corrections and improvements as may be necessary.
