Barge Operations Specialist

Seaspan Marine, a leading oil barge operator on the West Coast of Canada, is seeking an experienced Barge Operations Specialist to join its team. As a key member of our operations team, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the safe and efficient loading and unloading of refined petroleum products, chemicals, and bunker fuels.
The successful candidate will have a Supervisor of Oil Transfer Operations (SOTO A or SOTO - C) certification issued by Transport Canada or Advanced Tanker Endorsements issued by Transport Canada. They will also possess Marine Emergency Duties – STCW Basic Safety training, Radio Operator Certificate (ROC-MC), Marine Basic or Advanced First Aid, Transport Canada Marine Medical, and a Class 5 Driver's License.
In this critical role, you will be responsible for carrying out safe loading and discharging of barges in compliance with various legislations, safely performing supportive activities related to loading and discharging cargo, maintaining the highest level of conduct and safety, and reporting all deficiencies, near misses, hazards, and incidents to management.
You will also be required to maintain product and cargo integrity, accurately record loading and offloading processes, participate in inspections, send updates to relevant parties, and carry out bunkering and pre-transfer checks as instructed.
We offer a competitive salary range of $80,000 - $120,000 per annum, depending on experience, plus benefits and opportunities for career growth and development.
