Job Summary:

The Regional Municipality of Wood Buffalo is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Team Lead, Bylaw Services to join our Community Services team. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for leading a team of Bylaw Enforcement Officers and ensuring the effective enforcement of municipal bylaws and regulations.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead a team of Bylaw Enforcement Officers and provide guidance and support to ensure the effective enforcement of municipal bylaws and regulations.
  • Develop and implement strategies to improve bylaw enforcement services and ensure compliance with municipal policies and procedures.
  • Collaborate with other departments and stakeholders to ensure a coordinated approach to bylaw enforcement and community safety.
  • Investigate complaints and enforce municipal bylaws and regulations in a fair and impartial manner.
  • Provide training and coaching to Bylaw Enforcement Officers to ensure they have the necessary skills and knowledge to perform their duties effectively.
  • Monitor and report on bylaw enforcement activities and provide recommendations for improvement.

Requirements:

  • Diploma in Law Enforcement or related discipline, or graduation from an accredited police academy and three (3) years of direct law enforcement experience that includes two (2) years in a leadership capacity.
  • Community Peace Officer I appointment through the Alberta Solicitor General is required.
  • Emergency First Aid Certificate with AED is required.
  • A valid Class Five (5) Operator's License is required.

Working Conditions:

The successful candidate will be required to work a rotating shift that includes holidays, evening/night shift, and weekends. They must be willing to work outside in all conditions and be medically and physically able to perform all duties of the position on an ongoing basis.
