Job Summary:

The Team Lead, Bylaw Services is a key role within the Community Services department, responsible for leading a team of bylaw enforcement officers. The successful candidate will have strong leadership skills, excellent communication abilities, and a thorough understanding of municipal operations and policies.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead a team of bylaw enforcement officers, providing guidance and support to ensure effective delivery of services.
  • Develop and implement work plans, prioritizing tasks and allocating resources to meet departmental objectives.
  • Monitor and evaluate team performance, providing feedback and coaching to improve productivity and efficiency.
  • Collaborate with other departments and stakeholders to ensure effective communication and coordination.
  • Enforce municipal bylaws, provincial statutes, and legislation, ensuring compliance and upholding the law.
  • Investigate complaints and incidents, gathering evidence and preparing reports as required.
  • Provide training and development opportunities to team members, enhancing their skills and knowledge.
  • Represent the municipality at community events and meetings, promoting the department's services and initiatives.

Requirements:

  • Diploma in Law Enforcement or related discipline, or graduation from an accredited police academy and three (3) years of direct law enforcement experience.
  • Community Peace Officer I appointment through the Alberta Solicitor General.
  • Emergency First Aid Certificate with AED.
  • Valid Class Five (5) Operator's License.
  • Ability to work a rotating shift, including holidays, evenings, and weekends.
