Job Summary

The Unit Manager is a key leadership role responsible for providing clinical leadership and operational management for patient care units. This role requires a strong presence and visibility on the unit, with a focus on ensuring high-quality patient care through clinical leadership, mentoring, coaching, and performance management of staff.

Key Responsibilities
  • Coach team members to achieve comprehensive and integrated care planning
  • Promote the development of clinical practice quality improvements
  • Implement evidence-based practice and critically assess, evaluate, anticipate, and address risks to patient and staff safety
  • Lead the implementation of provincial, zone, and local clinical and operational priorities and initiatives at the unit level
  • Develop and maintain strong working relationships with key stakeholders
Requirements
  • Strong clinical nursing skills with experience in clinical practice, leadership, facilitation, coaching, people management, change management, and quality improvement
  • Knowledge of acute care and Alberta's healthcare structure
  • Active registration with CARNA and current BCLS-HCP certification
  • Minimum 5 years of clinical nursing experience, with experience in a leadership role an asset
Preferred Qualifications
  • Baccalaureate degree in Nursing
  • Demonstrated experience in perinatal nursing, specifically postpartum care
