Job Overview

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Mental Health Clinician to join our team at Alberta Health Services. This is an advanced level psychology position that will allow you to work with or within teams to provide and inform services for patients with complex and multi-dimensional medical, psychological, interpersonal, environmental and/or instrumental needs.

About the Role

The successful candidate will provide advanced clinical services (including psychological assessment, diagnosis and/or intervention), consultation and education to the interprofessional team and patients/families, and/or provides clinical leadership and coordination in an assigned program area.

This position has been identified and is anticipated to transition to Recovery Alberta effective September 1, 2024. By applying on this posting, if you are the successful candidate, you will transition to Recovery Alberta.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide advanced clinical services, including psychological assessment, diagnosis and/or intervention
  • Consult and educate the interprofessional team and patients/families
  • Provides clinical leadership and coordination in an assigned program area
  • Lead, facilitate and/or participate in program, policy, and procedure development, service planning, staff development, quality improvement and evaluation, and/or research activities as identified by the needs of the service area(s)
  • Supervise doctoral level psychology residents, master's level interns, provisional psychologists, psychometrists and other team members

Requirements

  • Completion of doctoral degree in Psychology in an applied area relevant to the practice setting from a Canadian Psychological Association (CPA) or American Psychological Association (APA) program
  • Active or eligible for registration with the College of Alberta Psychologists (CAP)
  • Minimum of 2 years clinical experience working with anxiety disorders
  • Experience working in a hospital or outpatient setting (within the last 2 years)
  • Recent experience in psychotherapy/counselling with patients and families
  • Demonstrated ability to function independently within a patient/family-centred environment
  • Experience in group facilitation and ability to organize and set priorities
  • Effective self-management skills and demonstrated initiative
  • Above average communication skills as well as the ability to work closely in a collaborative team both within the Allied Health service as well as within the program teams
  • Ability to establish positive working relationships with a wide variety of patients and families
  • Demonstrated ability to provide clinical service within a continually changing health care environment
  • Training and experience in formal psychological assessment
  • Experience with initiating and completing projects

Estimated Salary Range

$100,000 - $130,000 per year
