We are seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Unit Clerk, Oncology Chemo to join our team at BC Cancer in Surrey, BC.
About the Role
As a Unit Clerk, you will play a vital role in the operation of the Chemo Unit, performing a variety of clerical duties related to patient care, including booking appointments, coordinating diagnostic tests, and processing clinician orders.
Key Responsibilities
- Transcribe and process clinician orders, ensuring accurate and timely completion of requisitions and scheduling of tests and services.
- Coordinate diagnostic and therapeutic services for patients, preparing and communicating related instructions and information.
- Gather patient information for medical appointments, assisting in facilitating efficient patient flow and preparing documents for the clinical team.
- Perform receptionist duties, including greeting and registering patients, answering phone calls, and responding to inquiries.
- Participate in the onboarding and orientation of staff, demonstrating work procedures and answering related queries.
Requirements
To be successful in this role, you will require:
- Grade 12, medical terminology, and graduation from a recognized Nursing Unit Clerk Program, plus one year's recent, related experience.
- Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing.
- Ability to deal with others effectively, including patients, families, and staff.
- Physical ability to carry out the duties of the position.
- Ability to keyboard 40 wpm and operate related equipment.
- Commitment to upholding the shared responsibility of creating lasting and meaningful reconciliation in Canada.
