Job Summary:

The Canadian Red Cross is seeking an Occupational Therapist to coordinate the development, implementation, and evaluation of the Health Equipment Loan Program (HELP). The successful candidate will work with internal and external contacts to ensure client needs are met, maintain records, and liaise with Health Equipment Technicians.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement the Health Equipment Loan Program (HELP) in accordance with CRC policies and procedures.
  • Work with internal and external contacts to ensure client needs are met, using new or recycled equipment.
  • Maintain accurate records of loans, returns, inventory, statistics, and equipment repairs.
  • Liaise with Health Equipment Technicians to ensure timely and client-specific equipment adjustments.
  • Conduct audits and checklists as per OH&S requirements within the Warehouse environment.
  • Liaise with Long Term Care facilities to certify equipment receipt and appropriateness.
  • Network with facilities, OTs, and equipment providers to ensure cost-effective service delivery.

Requirements:

  • Baccalaureate Degree in Occupational Therapy with Membership in the Canadian Association of Occupational Therapists or established eligibility for membership.
  • 1-2 years minimum clinical experience.
  • Demonstrated experience with current issues/trends in community health, health equipment, and/or geriatrics.
  • Knowledge of specialized health equipment and mattress systems.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making abilities, combined with sound organizational skills.
  • Interpersonal skills and sensitivity to interact effectively with diverse groups.
  • Demonstrated computer proficiency and experience with inventory control systems.
  • Strong communication skills, oral and written, in English.
  • Ability to prioritize and organize multiple issues in a complex environment.

Working Conditions:

  • Valid driver's license with willingness to travel within the province.
  • Satisfactory driver's abstract.
  • Eligibility to work in Canada.
