We're seeking a skilled Field Property Claims Specialist to join our team in Nova Scotia. As a key member of our team, you'll play a vital role in providing quality service and prompt, equitable valuations of claims in line with our corporate policies and standards.

About the Role

We're looking for a Field Property Claims Specialist to support the province of Nova Scotia. You'll be responsible for conducting field inspections to evaluate property damage, evaluating replacement or restoration requirements, and maintaining effective communication channels with claims departments.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct field inspections to evaluate property damage and evaluate replacement or restoration requirements.
  • Identify process improvement needs and recommend changes to policies or procedures to maintain quality service and competitiveness.
  • Maintain effective communication channels with claims departments.
  • Coach other appraisers and adjusters when required.
  • Establish and maintain productive business relationships and liaise with repair facilities and other service providers.
  • Assist in the screening and review of vendor performance to meet professional and corporate standards.
  • Prepare repair estimates and obtain cost agreements from contractors or quotations on restoration/replacement.
  • Prepare total loss evaluations and facilitate their disposal, if applicable.

What You'll Bring

  • University degree or any combination of training and experience deemed relevant for the role.
  • Minimum 3 years experience in property claims.
  • High-level knowledge of the Xactimate/XactAnalysis estimating software.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of mitigation (IICRC), construction, and repair procedures.
  • Effective verbal communication skills, with experience in interviewing, coaching others, and dealing with clients.
  • Good written communications skills to draft claims reports.
  • Have a valid driver's licence and a good driving record.
