Field Property Claims Specialist

At Intact Financial Corporation, we're looking for a skilled Field Property Claims Specialist to join our team in Nova Scotia. As a key member of our team, you'll play a crucial role in providing quality service and prompt, equitable valuations of claims in line with our corporate policies and standards.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct field inspections to evaluate property damage and determine replacement or restoration requirements, including direct and in-person contact with insured, claimants, and service providers.
  • Identify process improvement needs and recommend changes to policies or procedures to maintain quality service and competitiveness.
  • Maintain effective communication channels with claims departments.
  • Coach other appraisers and adjusters when required.
  • Establish and maintain productive business relationships and liaise with repair facilities and other service providers.
  • Assist in the screening and review of vendor performance to meet professional and corporate standards.
  • Prepare repair estimates and obtain cost agreements from contractors or quotations on restoration/replacement.
  • Prepare total loss evaluations and facilitate their disposal, if applicable.

Requirements:

  • University degree or any combination of training and experience deemed relevant for the role.
  • Minimum 3 years experience in property claims.
  • High-level knowledge of the Xactimate/XactAnalysis estimating software.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of mitigation (IICRC), construction, and repair procedures.
  • Effective verbal communication skills, with experience in interviewing, coaching others, and dealing with clients.
  • Good written communications skills to draft claims reports.
  • Valid driver's license and good driving record.
