Pharmacy Assistant Professional

The Pharmacy Practice Assistant plays a vital role as a member of the inter-professional team, providing safe, competent, patient-centered care. This position ensures the goals and needs of patients are prioritized and individualized, working within their legislated scope of practice and employment. The Pharmacy Practice Assistant assumes responsibility for their actions, is accountable to the public, and contributes to the plan of care and pharmacy function to ensure a safe and healthy environment.
Key Responsibilities- Assumes responsibility for their own actions and is accountable to the public.
- Contributes to the plan of care and pharmacy function.
- Works within their legislated scope of practice and employment.
- Provides safe, competent, patient-centered care.
- Grade XII plus completion of a recognized Pharmacy Technician/Technology Program (accredited program preferred) OR one-year full-time experience as a hospital pharmacy technician OR two years' experience as a community pharmacy technician.
- Licensure in Nova Scotia as a Pharmacy Technician (NSCP) is an asset.
- Two years' experience as a pharmacy technician/pharmacy practice assistant, preferably in a hospital, is an asset.
- Knowledge of medical terminology, inventory control, and record keeping.
- Demonstrated ability to perform mathematical calculations related to medications.
- Basic typing skills or computer/keyboard experience; skills in Microsoft Office Suite.
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
- Competencies in other languages are an asset, with French preferred.
- Must have reliable transportation as travel may be required (on occasion).
