About the Role

The Pharmacy Practice Assistant is a key member of our inter-professional team, working to provide safe, competent, patient-centered care. This role involves assuming responsibility for their actions and contributing to the plan of care and function of pharmacy to ensure a safe and healthy environment.

Responsibilities

As a Pharmacy Practice Assistant, you will work within your legislated scope of practice and scope of employment, participating in the provision of safe, competent, patient-centered care. This includes assuming responsibility for their actions, contributing to the plan of care and function of pharmacy, and ensuring a safe and healthy environment.

Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will require:

  • Grade XII plus completion of a recognized Pharmacy Technician/Technology Program (accredited program preferred) OR one-year full-time experience as a hospital pharmacy technician OR two years' experience as a community pharmacy technician
  • Licensure in Nova Scotia as a Pharmacy Technician (NSCP) is an asset
  • Two years' experience as a pharmacy technician/pharmacy practice assistant, preferably in a hospital, an asset
  • Knowledge of medical terminology, inventory control and record keeping
  • Demonstrated ability to perform mathematical calculations related to medications
  • Basic typing skills or computer/keyboard experience; skills in Microsoft Office Suite
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills
  • Competencies in other languages an asset, French preferred
  • Must have reliable transportation as travel may be required (on occasion)
