Pharmacy Practice Assistant

The Pharmacy Practice Assistant plays a vital role in the inter-professional team, providing safe, competent, patient-centered care that prioritizes individualized goals and needs. Working within their legislated scope of practice and scope of employment, the Pharmacy Practice Assistant assumes responsibility for their actions, is accountable to the public, and contributes to the plan of care and function of pharmacy to ensure a safe and healthy environment.
The Pharmacy Practice Assistant functions are self-determined, assigned through management, the pharmacist, another Pharmacy Technician, or as requested by other members of the care team.
About YouWe are seeking a highly skilled and motivated individual with the following qualifications:
- Grade XII plus completion of a recognized Pharmacy Technician/Technology Program (accredited program preferred) OR one-year full-time experience as a hospital pharmacy technician OR two years' experience as a community pharmacy technician
- Licensure in Nova Scotia as a Pharmacy Technician (NSCP) is an asset
- Two years' experience as a pharmacy technician/pharmacy practice assistant, preferably in a hospital, is an asset
- Knowledge of medical terminology, inventory control, and record keeping
- Demonstrated ability to perform mathematical calculations related to medications
- Basic typing skills or computer/keyboard experience; skills in Microsoft Office Suite
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills
- Competencies in other languages are an asset, French preferred
- Must have reliable transportation as travel may be required (on occasion)

Hours and CompensationThis is a Permanent Full Time/100% FTE /75 Hours Bi-weekly position with a competitive hourly rate of $23.18 to $27.18.
Successful candidates may be eligible for our benefits package, which includes health, dental, travel, long-term disability, and life insurance coverage, as well as a defined benefit pension plan.
