Health and Safety Project Manager for Mine Expansion

Job OverviewWe are seeking an experienced Health and Safety Project Manager to lead our Phase 3+ Expansion project at Island Gold. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for developing and implementing a comprehensive health and safety program that ensures the well-being of our employees and the success of our operations.
Key Responsibilities- Develop and Implement Health and Safety Program: Create, maintain, and audit safety management systems that align with company practices and regulatory requirements.
- Safety Policy Development: Establish policies, procedures, and systems based on best practices to ensure the highest industry standards and support operational goals.
- Performance Data Analysis: Collect, analyze, and use safety performance data to inform prevention efforts and drive continuous improvement.
- Risk Management: Identify major hazard areas in the mine and develop effective risk management strategies.
- Emergency Response: Ensure emergency response teams are trained, prepared, and responsive in case of emergencies.
- Safety Leadership: Demonstrate leadership by example, provide guidance, and ensure compliance with safety regulations.
- Training and Development: Develop and implement training programs to meet legislative requirements and company standards.
To succeed in this role, you will require:
- 10-15 years of experience in safety and training management in a mining environment.
- Minimum 5 years in a supervisory role.
- Good understanding of Occupational Health and Safety Act and applicable codes and laws.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work with various stakeholders and facilitate team commitment.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office programs.
This position is based at the Island Gold site and requires a rotation schedule of 7 days on site followed by 7 days at home. Flights are available from Toronto, Sudbury, and Rouyn-Noranda, QC.
Estimated Salary Range$120,000 - $150,000 per annum, depending on qualifications and experience.
