Job Summary
We are seeking a highly experienced Health and Safety Manager to lead our health and safety program for the Phase 3+ Expansion Project at our Island Gold mine. The successful candidate will have a strong background in safety and training management, with experience in a mining environment. They will be responsible for developing and implementing safety policies, procedures, and systems, as well as ensuring compliance with industry regulations and company standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and maintain safety management systems that meet company standards and industry regulations
- Conduct regular safety audits and inspections to identify and mitigate risks
- Provide training and coaching to employees on safety procedures and protocols
- Collaborate with department leaders and employees to resolve complex or high-risk safety issues
- Develop and implement a change management strategy and program
- Ensure emergency response teams are trained and prepared to respond to emergencies
- Act as a resource on the Joint Health and Safety Committee
Qualifications and Experience
- 10-15 years' experience in safety and training management in a mining environment
- Minimum 5 years' experience in a supervisory role
- Good understanding of Occupational Health and Safety Act and all applicable codes and laws pertaining to the Ontario mining industry
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work effectively in a team environment
What We Offer
Alamos Gold offers a competitive salary and benefits package, as well as opportunities for professional growth and development. This position is based at the Island Gold site, with a rotation schedule of 7 days on site followed by 7 days at home. Flights are available from Toronto, Sudbury, and Rouyn-Noranda, QC.
