About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Retail Buyer to join our team at FGL Sports. As a key member of our purchasing team, you will be responsible for creating a relationship of trust and credibility with our franchisees, suppliers, and other stakeholders to drive business success.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement purchasing strategies to meet the needs of our franchisee network, including preselecting advertised styles, determining purchasing budgets, and preregistering quantities.
  • Negotiate mutually beneficial policies with suppliers based on category volume.
  • Prepare and coordinate selection committees to establish advertising programs.
  • Develop and present product recommendations to franchisees.
  • Establish price and competition guidelines for each category.
  • Conduct market research by visiting stores and competitors to stay up-to-date on market trends.
  • Purchase promotional items for our franchised banners.
  • Manage inventory, markups, and markdowns for our warehouse categories.
  • Collaborate with the POP Hotline to create catalogues and flyers.
  • Provide exceptional customer service to our franchise stores and suppliers.
  • Lead and develop an analyst to support business growth.

Requirements

  • Minimum 5 years of experience in sporting goods retail or equivalent.
  • Minimum 3 years of experience in retail, preferably sports retail.
  • University or college degree in administration.
  • Strong knowledge of the sporting goods retail market.
  • Excellent negotiation skills with sports industry suppliers and franchisees.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
  • Bilingualism (spoken and written French and English) is essential.
  • Strong organizational skills, ability to prioritize effectively, and work under pressure as part of a team.
  • Ability to travel.
