Job Title: Retail Buyer - Sporting Goods

About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Retail Buyer - Sporting Goods to join our team at Sports Experts. As a key member of our purchasing team, you will be responsible for creating a relationship of trust and credibility with franchisees, suppliers, and other related services to establish a partnership that contributes to the success of our stores.

Key Responsibilities

  • Offer purchasing recommendations that meet the needs of each franchisee network banner.
  • Negotiate policies of mutual understanding with suppliers based on category volume.
  • Prepare and coordinate selection committees for various banners to establish advertising programs.
  • Prepare and coordinate presentations for franchisees.
  • Establish price and competition guidelines for each category.
  • Visit stores of franchisees and competitors to stay abreast of market trends.
  • Search for and purchase promotional items for different franchised banners.
  • Manage inventory, markups, and markdowns of warehouse categories.
  • Work with the POP Hotline to create catalogues and flyers.
  • Provide customer service to franchise stores and suppliers.
  • Demonstrate leadership and contribute to the management and development of an analyst.

Requirements

  • Minimum of five years of experience in sporting goods retail or equivalent.
  • Minimum of three years of experience in retail, preferably sports retail.
  • University or college degree in administration.
  • Very good knowledge of the sporting goods retail market.
  • Strong negotiation skills with sports industry suppliers and franchisees.
  • Good knowledge of Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook in a Windows environment.
  • Bilingualism is essential (spoken and written French and English).
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to establish priorities effectively and work as a team under pressure.
  • Ability to travel.
