About the Role
We are seeking a skilled Retail Buyer to join our team at Sports Experts. As a key member of our franchise division, you will be responsible for creating a relationship of trust and credibility with franchisees, suppliers, and other related services to establish a partnership that contributes to the success of our stores.
As a Category Manager, you will manage primary product categories in collaboration with the purchasing manager to meet your objectives. Your key responsibilities will include:
- Offering purchasing recommendations that meet the needs of each of the franchisee network banners.
- Negotiating various policies of mutual understanding with our suppliers, based on the category volume.
- Preparing and coordinating the selection committees for the various banners to establish the advertising program.
- Preparing and coordinating presentations for franchisees.
- Establishing price and competition guidelines for each category.
- Visiting the stores of our franchisees as well as those of our competitors to keep abreast of market trends.
- Searching for and purchasing promotional items for our different franchised banners.
- Managing inventory, markups, and markdowns of the warehouse's various categories.
- Working to create catalogues and various flyers in collaboration with the POP Hotline.
- Providing customer service to our franchise stores as well as our suppliers.
- Demonstrating leadership and contributing to the management and development of an analyst.
Requirements
- Minimum of five years of experience in sporting goods retail or equivalent.
- Minimum of three years of experience in retail, preferably sports retail.
- University or college degree in administration.
- Very good knowledge of the sporting goods retail market.
- Strong negotiation skills with sports industry suppliers as well as our franchisees.
- Good knowledge of Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook in a Windows environment.
- Bilingualism is essential (spoken and written French and English).
- Strong organizational skills, as well as the ability to establish priorities effectively and work as a team under pressure.
- Ability to travel.
