Salary

The estimated salary range for this position is $41.42 - $59.52 CAD per hour, based on the location and industry standards.

About the Role

We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Registered Nurse to join our team. As a Nurse Cardiologist Specialist, you will provide direct patient care by assessing, planning, providing, and evaluating nursing care to patients in an acute medical unit. Your responsibilities will include:

  • Assessing patients and collecting information from various sources using observation, communication, data review, and physical assessment.
  • Making a nursing diagnosis of the patient's condition and determining whether it can be improved or resolved by a suitable nursing intervention.
  • Planning, performing, and evaluating nursing interventions and care.
  • Collaborating with patients and their families/caregivers in developing the care plan and encouraging family participation in the development, implementation, and ongoing modification of the care plan.
  • Establishing a therapeutic relationship by demonstrating empathy, trust, and respect, advocating for the patient's rights to privacy, dignity, and access to information, and ensuring the patient's choice and autonomy in decision-making and care planning.
  • Participating in the care and discharge planning process for patients on admission by ensuring the care plan is established and implemented effectively, updating care plans, and intervening as necessary.
  • Coordinating nursing care for patients; setting priorities, assigning and delegating tasks to support staff, and making referrals to the interprofessional care team according to established protocols and practice standards.
  • Collaborating with members of the interprofessional care team, including physicians, licensed practical nurses, patient care coordinators, clinical nurse educators, and other healthcare professionals/providers, in identifying and resolving issues, adjusting care plans as required, and addressing changes in patient condition.

Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will require:

  • A graduation from an approved School of Nursing with current practicing registration as a Registered Nurse with the British Columbia College of Nurses and Midwives (BCCNM).
  • Completion of the Cardiology component of Post-Basic Critical Care course or equivalent experience in cardiac monitoring or telemetry units.
  • Current Basic Rescuer Certificate.
