Parking Operations Manager Job Description

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Parking Operations Manager to oversee and manage our meter department. The ideal candidate will be highly organized, able to adapt to changing needs, and possess excellent leadership and communication skills.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Leadership and Team Management: Provide guidance and direction to the team for day-to-day tasks performed by the department.
  • Scheduling and Time Management: Schedule and approve timecards for team members.
  • Audit and Compliance: Conduct regular audits of fleet vehicle maintenance and reconcile expenses.
  • Hardware and Software Maintenance: Install and maintain meter hardware and software on-site/field as required.
  • Training and Development: Train team members to use the organization's computer system or organize outside training programs, particularly for new software.
  • Preventive Maintenance: Provide preventative maintenance for existing on-street meters and single space meters.
  • Inventory Management: Maintain an ample parts inventory, including domes, batteries, poles, spare housings & locks, mechanisms, etc., to provide immediate replacement.
  • Repair and Maintenance Log: Maintain a meter repair log and respond to meter repair requests promptly.
  • Daily Route Check: Conduct daily checks of routes for damaged meters.
  • Customer Service: Assist in the collection and security of all monies received through parking meters, multi-space machines, pay on foot technology, and any other means of collecting parking revenues and fees.
  • Event Support: Assist event staff with activities related to parking for events, including setting up for events, traffic control, receipt of payment for parking, and lot usage control.
  • Office Support: Assist office staff with activities related to permit sales during peak seasons, including data entry, collating mailings, and providing frontline customer service.
  • Flexibility and Adaptability: Demonstrate flexibility in working hours and adaptability to changing needs.
  • After-Hours Support: Check and respond to after-hours call center messages.
Requirements and Qualifications:
  • Education: College degree preferred.
  • Experience: 1+ year of experience in managing or supervisory roles preferred.
  • Skills and Knowledge: Knowledge of networking, hardware, and software experience, geography of the area, hazards and safety precautions, ability to walk for an extended period, operate a motorized vehicle, work in all weather conditions, lift at least 50 pounds, good problem-solving skills, time management skills, and ability to work well on their own and/or part of a team.
  • Communication and Interpersonal Skills: Excellent oral and written communication skills, listening skills, and ability to understand and explain technical language.
  • Personal Qualities: Flexible, patient, diplomatic, tactful, and with a high level of integrity.
  • Valid Driver's License: Required.
