About the Opportunity

The Nova Scotia Health Authority is seeking a skilled Clinical Therapist to join our team. As a member of a multi-disciplinary team, you will be responsible for delivering time-limited, evidence-based psycho-social assessments and treatments to children and youth with Tier-3 mental disorders and Substance Use Disorders.

Working within a Stepped Care framework, you will be guided by disorder-based clinical care pathways. Each clinician participates in a consultation group to ensure collegial support, accountability, and effectiveness of assessments and treatments.

It is expected that the Clinical Therapist will act in a professional and ethical manner, following all recognized codes of ethics, standards, legislation, and guidelines relevant to clinical practice and profession.

About You

We are looking for a candidate with a Master's Degree in a clinical health-related discipline, such as Social Work, Psychology, or Nursing. You should have current registration with the relevant provincial regulatory body and a minimum of two years' related experience.

  • In-depth understanding of harm reduction principles and evidence-based interventions for addiction treatment
  • Demonstrated knowledge of standard criteria used for mental health disorder classification and diagnosis
  • Skills in individual/group cognitive behavioral therapy and psycho-educational groups
  • Knowledge of crisis intervention, suicide, and violence risk assessment/intervention
  • Ability to work independently with limited supervision and participate in a multidisciplinary team
  • Competencies in identifying and treating concurrent mental health and substance use disorders
  • Experience in interviewing, counseling, and teaching health concepts
  • Knowledge of collaborating with families in relation to sharing information and implementing family-sensitive services
Hours
  • Permanent Full Time position; 75 Hours Bi Weekly
Compensation and Incentives

Clinical Therapist: $37.31 - $49.04 hourly

Clinical Therapist (Less than two years experience): $33.27 - $42.01 hourly
