Capital Planning and Redevelopment Director

At William Osler Health System, we are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Capital Planning and Redevelopment Director to lead our capital planning initiatives. This is a key role that will drive the organization's redevelopment strategy, ensuring that our facilities meet the evolving needs of our patients and community.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Lead the corporate facilities master programming/planning, functional programming/planning, and space planning processes.
  • Direct and monitor activities such as business case development, master programming and planning, project proposal and budget development, and occupancy planning.
  • Engage with key stakeholders in the Ministry of Health and Long-term Care's Health Capital Investment Branch to manage capital project submissions and negotiate final outcomes.
  • Support the Vice President, Redevelopment, in developing capital project briefing notes and supporting documents for the Board of Directors and other stakeholders.
  • Lead and manage the development and negotiation of requests for information/proposals, business cases, and contracts with consultants and vendors.
  • Direct the furniture, fixtures, and equipment planning process.
  • Manage product standardization activities to ensure adherence to policies and corporate directions.
  • Oversee the work of senior project managers, project managers, and coordinators to ensure all project activities are coordinated and of acceptable quality.
Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in business or a health-related field.
  • PMP certification an asset.
  • Five to ten years of healthcare management experience.
  • Five years of healthcare-specific project management experience.
  • Full understanding of and experience with the Ministry of Health capital planning process.
  • Proven track record of supporting teamwork, decision-making, and problem-solving in complex, multi-stakeholder situations.
  • Demonstrated project control skills, including development and monitoring of scope, budgets, and schedules.
  • Broad knowledge of overall hospital structure, operating policies, and procedures, and decision-making processes.
  • Broad knowledge of healthcare services delivery models, including systems structures, trends, and best practice models of care.
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate and engage with internal and external stakeholders at all levels of the organization.
  • Proven abilities in human resource management, as a coach, and as a facilitator of issue and change management.
  • Ability to adapt to change, implement changes, and facilitate change management throughout the department and organization as needed.
  • Outstanding organization and priority-setting skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to foster a positive atmosphere conducive to team building, collaboration, and shared learning.
  • Outstanding written and oral communication skills, including presentations at internal and external forums.
  • Demonstrated computer skills, specifically Auto-Cad and Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Project.
