About the Role

The Director, Planning and Redevelopment will lead and direct capital planning initiatives, including large-scale redevelopment projects, master planning, and programming engagements. This role will oversee the organization's space request process and assist the Facilities Operations portfolio with operational project planning and programming support.

Key Responsibilities

  1. Lead the corporate facilities master programming and planning processes as part of the organization's redevelopment strategy.
  2. Direct, monitor, and implement activities such as business case development, master programming and planning, project proposal and budget development, functional program preparation, design development, and working drawing preparation.
  3. Engage with key stakeholders in the Ministry of Health and Long-term Care's Health Capital Investment Branch to manage the capital project submissions process and negotiate final outcomes.
  4. Support the Vice President, Redevelopment, with the development of Board of Directors, resources committee, and Osler redevelopment steering committee's capital project briefing notes and supporting documents.
  5. Lead and manage the development and negotiation of requests for information/proposals, business cases, and contracts in the selection of consultants and vendors.
  6. Direct the furniture, fixtures, and equipment planning.
  7. Manage product standardization activities to ensure adherence to policies and corporate directions.
  8. Oversee the work of assigned senior project managers, project managers, and coordinators to ensure all associated project activities are coordinated and of acceptable quality.
  9. Provide direction and oversight throughout the planning and redevelopment process to ensure the organization's vision, goals, and objectives are met.
  10. Lead the development of capital planning policies, procedures, and standards.

Requirements

  1. Bachelor's degree in business and/or health-related field preferred.
  2. PMP certification an asset.
  3. Five to ten years of healthcare management experience.
  4. Five years of healthcare-specific project management experience.
  5. Full understanding of and experience with the Ministry of Health capital planning process.
  6. Proven track record of supporting teamwork, decision-making, and problem-solving in highly complex, multi-stakeholder situations.
  7. Demonstrated project control skills, including development and monitoring of scope, budgets, and schedules.
  8. Works under their own initiative, drives processes, displays energy and enthusiasm within the role, and delivers projects on time and on budget.
  9. Broad knowledge of overall hospital structure, operating policies, and procedures, and decision-making processes.
  10. Broad knowledge of healthcare services delivery models, including systems structures, trends, and best practice models of care.
  11. Demonstrated ability to communicate and engage with internal and external stakeholders at all levels of the organization and to understand the political nature of certain engagements.
  12. Proven abilities in human resource management, as a coach, and as a facilitator of issue and change management.
  13. Ability to adapt to change, to implement changes, and to facilitate change management throughout the department and organization as needed.
  14. Outstanding organization and priority setting skills.
  15. Demonstrated ability to foster a positive atmosphere conducive to team building, collaboration, and shared learning.
  16. Outstanding written and oral communication skills, including presentations at internal and external forums.
  17. Demonstrated computer skills, specifically Auto-Cad and Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Project.
