What is the Opportunity?

Royal Bank of Canada's Cards business is a leading credit card provider in Canada, contributing significantly to the bank's overall Canadian Banking revenues and profits. The business has experienced substantial growth over the past five years, driven by a strong suite of credit card products and innovative strategies.

The Role

The successful candidate for this position will provide strategic oversight for the Cards Lending portfolio, including managing products, RBC's credit card installment payment program, and other strategic initiatives. As the Strategic Manager, Credit Card Products, you will partner with product teams, be accountable for the successful execution and integration of business strategies across multiple key stakeholders, and be responsible for enhancing shareholder value creation.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support management in all stages of the product development and management lifecycle and/or support development and implementation of key initiatives
  • Execution of installment strategies (pricing, delivery, monitoring) by partnering with credit strategists, marketing and marketing science, digital, risk, etc.
  • Identify areas and develop business cases to accelerate share of wallet and profitability on the lending portfolio to drive balance growth, incorporating financial and market-based objectives
  • Monitor and report on strategy effectiveness and KPI outcomes relative to expectations, including preparing executive-level presentations
  • Become a subject matter expert in lending and installments to become the day-to-day business lead, partnering with a diverse set of stakeholders

Requirements

  • Strategic Mindset - ability to think strategically, integrate information from multiple sources, and synthesize complex issues
  • Experience in analytics and developing data-driven strategies
  • Strong ability to achieve results in the context of complexity, ambiguity, and constant change
  • Highly organized with the ability to multitask and shift priorities
  • Excellent critical thinking skills with the ability to resolve issues through innovative solutions
  • Well-developed interpersonal and influencing skills to build and maintain effective working relationships and elicit cooperation from internal partners
  • Excellent communication skills (listening, understanding, and responding)
  • Proficient in MS Excel, MS Word, PowerPoint

Preferred Qualifications

  • Cards Knowledge - understanding of key credit card business drivers and operations
  • Experience in a marketing-related environment
  • Proficient in SQL
