Job Summary:

The District of Saanich is seeking a highly motivated and experienced professional to join our Youth Services Team as a Community Child & Youth Programmer I. This role will be responsible for the operation of one of our Youth Centres and will plan, develop, and implement youth programs aligned with our Youth Development Strategy.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Plan, develop, and implement youth programs that cater to diverse groups of youth, focusing on marginalized and underserved communities.
  • Provide leadership and training to staff, ensuring a high level of customer service and program delivery.
  • Support camps and special events, fostering positive relationships with external partners and stakeholders.
  • Develop and manage budgets, revenues, and expenses for programs, ensuring financial sustainability and growth.
  • Collaborate with internal teams to promote programs and services, leveraging social media and other marketing channels.

Requirements:

  • Two-year post-secondary diploma in recreation, leisure studies, or a related field.
  • Two years of experience in program planning and staff supervision.
  • Program specialty certification where required.
  • Satisfactory police information check and valid Class 5 B.C. Driver's Licence.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience programming for diverse youth populations.
  • Knowledge of popular youth culture and trends.
