Job Summary

The District of Saanich is seeking a highly motivated and enthusiastic individual to join our Youth Services team as a Program Assistant. This is an exciting opportunity to work with a dynamic team and make a positive impact on the lives of young people in our community.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead and engage youth participants in activities that promote their talents, creativity, and interests.
  • Work cooperatively with youth participants, their families, and coworkers to ensure a positive and inclusive environment.
  • Maintain the program site and implement safe and well-organized activities.
  • Develop and implement programs that meet the diverse needs and interests of youth.
  • Collaborate with colleagues to plan and deliver programs that promote youth development and well-being.
Requirements
  • Completion of Grade 10.
  • Eight weeks of experience working with participants in a recreational or instructional setting.
  • Satisfactory Police Information Check with Vulnerable Sector (PIC-VS) check no older than 6 months.
  • Emergency First-Aid and CPR-C certification.
  • Ability to work varying shifts, including weekends, after school, and evenings.
  • Availability to work a minimum of 3 hours per week.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience working with youth and ability to be inclusive and flexible.
  • Demonstrated customer service and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to maintain a high degree of enthusiasm and personal motivation.
  • Experience working with children and youth with a wide variety of interests, unique needs, and neurodiversity.
