Chief Information Officer, IT and Digital Transformation

Waterloo Region District School Board is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Chief Information Officer (CIO) to lead its Information Technology Services (ITS) unit. The successful candidate will play a pivotal role in the organization's strategic planning and implementation, advancing the work of the Project Management Office, overseeing system-level projects, and managing ITS departmental finances.
Key Responsibilities:- Support the implementation of the WRDSB Strategic Plan and IT Strategy
- Advance the work of the Project Management Office
- Oversee system-level projects
- Manage ITS departmental finances
- Lead and support effective Data Governance
- Maintain effective communication across IT Services and with the Board's senior leadership team
- Collaborate with other departments on audit recommendations
- Establish and uphold security protocols for corporate and employee privacy
- Manage responses to complex data privacy and cybersecurity issues
- Participate in provincial school board associations to share information and enhance IT operations security and efficiency
- Several years of experience as a senior IT leader, specifically with experience in strategic planning, strategic plan implementation, project management, and change management
- Expertise in managing and implementing protocols for data governance, information security, and data privacy
- Experience in and/or a strong appreciation for enhancing student learning, staff collaboration, and community engagement through information technology
- A history of delivering excellent work within the information technology field and a reputation for being a proactive and results-oriented leader
- An undergraduate degree in Computer Science or Business, or equivalent years of progressively senior experience, with a certification in cybersecurity and a Project Management Professional (PMP) designation is considered an asset
- Evidence of exceptional communication skills, strong relationship-building skills, and a natural inclination towards self-reflection
