Job Description

The Principal Contracts Manager will play a critical role in managing contracts with customers, vendors, suppliers, partners, or employees. Key responsibilities include:

  • Drafting, executing, and analyzing contracts to maximize financial and operational performance while minimizing risk.
  • Negotiating terms and conditions, ensuring compliance, and documenting changes or amendments.
  • Creating and maintaining a contract database for easy access and retrieval.
  • Managing large projects or processes with limited oversight from management.
  • Identifying opportunities to minimize contract risk and planning commercial risk mitigation strategies.
  • Providing commercial assessments, monitoring, supporting, and reporting on customer, JV/Partner, and sub-contractor contract-related commercial impacts and risks.
  • Developing and implementing strategic commercial approaches based on contract type.

Requirements and Qualifications

To excel in this role, you should possess:

  • A strong knowledge of P3 Contracts (Public-Private Partnership).
  • Experience in legal litigation.
  • Tertiary qualifications in engineering disciplines such as Electrical, Mechanical, or Civil.
  • Tertiary qualification in Construction Management.
  • Tertiary qualification in Quantity Surveying, preferably RICS qualified.
  • At least 10 years of expertise in contract and/or commercial management experience.

Preferred Qualifications

Postgraduate qualifications in construction law, dispute resolution, or contracts management are highly desirable. Additionally, minimum 15 years of experience in the railway/infrastructure/construction industry, with at least 8 years in senior contract & commercial roles in complex technical or engineering-based organizations, is preferred. A minimum of 5 years of experience managing medium to large-scale design/build or EPC projects is also beneficial.
