Postdoctoral Research and Teaching Fellow

The University of British Columbia is seeking a highly qualified Postdoctoral Research and Teaching Fellow to join our team in the Department of Chemical and Biological Engineering. This is a two-year full-time position, starting in May 2024.
Key Responsibilities- Design and develop innovative educational modules and content for existing engineering courses, focusing on sustainability and equity, diversity, and inclusion (EDI) topics.
- Review and redesign pedagogy for two large-scale Professional Practice courses in engineering, incorporating EDI and sustainability principles.
- Conduct literature reviews on EDI and sustainability teaching and assessment in engineering to identify best practices.
- Develop rigorous evaluation strategies for EDI and sustainability learning in engineering.
- Oversee data collection and analysis to evaluate the effectiveness of developed content and pedagogies.
- Organize and analyze qualitative and quantitative data using software tools.
- Write and publish research papers on engineering education in conferences, journals, and workshops.
- Present research findings at conferences related to engineering education.
- PhD in any engineering discipline (including engineering education) completed within the last 5 years.
- Experience teaching in a post-secondary context (e.g., as instructor or teaching assistant).
- Knowledge of and commitment to EDI, indigeneity/decolonization, and sustainability, preferably in an engineering context.
- Interest in a career path in post-secondary teaching and learning within engineering.
- Experience developing curricular content.
- Experience creating and applying innovative pedagogies.
- Knowledge of supporting literature in the areas of interest.
