As a key member of the Fundraising Events team, the Event Fundraising Specialist will play a vital role in the organization and execution of ALS Canada's flagship events, including the Pull to End ALS and Revolution Ride. This position will also support additional initiatives such as the Walk to End ALS and various third-party events.

The primary focus of this role is to enhance the revenue potential of our Signature Events portfolio through effective participant recruitment, retention strategies, and sponsorship acquisition. The Specialist will also be responsible for nurturing relationships with participants, Team Captains, donors, and sponsors, ensuring a positive experience for all involved.

Key Responsibilities:
  1. Revenue Generation and Recruitment: 30%
    • Engage and inspire participants to achieve or surpass fundraising goals for the Pull to End ALS and Revolution Ride.
    • Identify and recruit new teams and individuals through targeted outreach and research.
    • Enhance fundraising outcomes by developing and implementing donor stewardship strategies.
    • Create compelling content for event communications, including recruitment and fundraising campaigns.
    • Lead Team Captain meetings and participant engagement initiatives.
    • Analyze event metrics and report on key performance indicators to inform future strategies.
    • Facilitate tailored recruitment and fundraising campaigns as necessary.
  2. Sponsorship Development: 30%
    • Research and secure cash and in-kind sponsorships for key events, while supporting other fundraising initiatives.
    • Draft and manage sponsorship agreements, ensuring all obligations are met.
    • Foster and strengthen relationships with current and potential sponsors.
    • Prepare sponsorship presentations and impact reports as needed.
    • Explore opportunities to expand fundraising efforts beyond existing networks.
    • Collaborate with the Fund Development team to present multi-year sponsorship opportunities.
  3. Event Logistics: 15%
    • Incorporate the mission and values of ALS Canada into all event planning and execution.
    • Source and manage promotional materials and fundraising incentives for events.
    • Coordinate the logistics of event signage and materials distribution.
    • Act as a liaison with various departments to ensure seamless event execution.
    • Oversee financial processes related to event operations.
    • Ensure compliance with all necessary permits and insurance requirements.
  4. Participant Support and Stewardship: 25%
    • Assist in the recruitment and management of volunteers for event days.
    • Build and maintain strong relationships with fundraisers and Team Captains through regular communication.
    • Conduct participant satisfaction surveys to inform future event planning.
    • Provide support to event participants and volunteers to ensure a positive experience.
Qualifications:

A university degree or college diploma with a minimum of 3-4 years of relevant fundraising experience, particularly in peer-to-peer fundraising events and volunteer management.

  • Valid driver's license.
  • Demonstrated success in leading fundraising campaigns with significant revenue targets.
  • Expertise in developing fundraising strategies and managing donor relationships.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and familiar with database management systems.
  • Strong public speaking and presentation skills.
  • Collaborative team player with the ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment.
  • Exceptional organizational and analytical skills.
  • Familiarity with Raiser's Edge or similar platforms is an asset.
  • Willingness to work extended hours during peak event seasons.
  • Physical ability to manage event-related logistics.
  • Experience in the non-profit sector, particularly in health charities, is advantageous.
  • Some travel may be required.
