About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Program Coordinator to join our team at Vancouver Public Library. This is a part-time position, with an estimated salary of $34.30 to $40.34 per hour, working 20 hours per week.

Job Overview

This role will be responsible for creating a welcoming environment for patrons by planning and delivering responsive information services and programs for children, teens, and adults. The incumbent will work collaboratively within their team and system-wide to ensure a seamless experience.

Key Responsibilities

  1. Plan and deliver library programs and projects, including public speaking and instruction
  2. Pleasantly and effectively deliver children's programs and services
  3. Maintain the library collection, ensuring it remains relevant and engaging for our community
  4. Participate in the maintenance of the library collection, ensuring it remains up-to-date and accurate
  5. Deliver instruction and support to the public on the use of digital devices, such as e-readers, to access library resources

Requirements

  • Completion of an approved Library Technician diploma program and 2 years of experience in a customer service environment, or
  • Completion of an undergraduate degree from a recognized university and two years experience in a customer service environment, with considerable experience demonstrated in an area such as programming, information services, collection maintenance, and/or community collaboration

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

  • Considerable knowledge of library methods, procedures, and tools applicable to the work
  • Working knowledge of the objectives, organization, procedures, services, and resources of the Library
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Pleasant and effective customer service skills
