Canada Research Chair in Community-based Kinesiology and Physical Literacy Leadership

We invite highly motivated researchers to apply for the Tier 2 Canada Research Chair in Community-based Kinesiology and Physical Literacy at Vancouver Island University. About the Position:
The successful candidate will hold a Ph.D. in a relevant field and possess exceptional leadership skills, with a proven track record of research excellence and a strong potential for developing new areas of collaborative research.
This is a full-time tenure-track appointment, with 75% dedicated to research and 25% towards teaching (equivalent to 2 courses annually). The teaching responsibilities will be determined based on the disciplinary and teaching background of the candidate.
The successful candidate will become a faculty member in the Faculty of Education or Faculty of Health Sciences and Human Services and will be provided with an operating grant for their research program. They may also apply for additional funding through the Canada Foundation for Innovation (CFI).
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct innovative research that explores the affective, physical, cognitive, and behavioral elements of physical literacy across the lifespan.
- Develop a comprehensive understanding of how community, sport, and culture intersect to promote or stifle health and wellness.
- Promote physical activity, exercise, and wellness in the Mid-Island region through community outreach and partnerships.
- Mentor undergraduate students and attract research trainees from diverse backgrounds.
