About the Role

MNP LLP is seeking a highly skilled Tax Manager to join our team. As a Tax Manager, you will be responsible for leading multiple client-facing engagement teams responsible for the completion of tax engagements.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead Client-Facing Engagement Teams: Oversee the completion of tax engagements, ensuring high-quality deliverables and meeting client expectations.
  • Deliver Industry Expertise: Provide industry and technical expertise in taxation and assurance through client interactions, reports, technical work, management presentations, and high-quality deliverables.
  • Evaluate Business Processes: Evaluate existing business processes and policies, advising on policy and tax changes, and developing proactive tax strategies that make effective use of business opportunities and ensure businesses are run effectively.
  • Liaise with Regulatory Bodies: Liaise with the Canada Revenue Agency and relevant provincial ministries on client issues.
  • Prepare Election Forms: Prepare election forms required in corporate reorganizations.
  • Manage Client Portfolios: Manage a portfolio of clients, understanding their business, key risks, and ways to deliver added value, ensuring their needs are met, and that relationships and accounts grow and develop.
  • Accountable for Engagement Planning: Accountable for engagement planning and scheduling, as well as project financials (i.e., budgets, WIPS, timely billing, collection, and variance recognition).
  • Maintain Quality Control: Maintain high-quality control and apply specialized knowledge to anticipate, identify, and address issues relevant to the client's business, financial entries, and reports.
  • Network and Business Development: Network in the local business community, consider business development opportunities, and contribute to the preparation and delivery of competitive proposals to meet client needs.
  • Mentor and Coach: Mentor, motivate, and coach team members towards professional and personal development by setting clear expectations, providing feedback, and conducting performance reviews.
  • Travel and Flexibility: Maintain flexibility to travel, as necessary.
Requirements
  • Completion of Level 1 of In-Depth Tax Program: Completion of Level 1 of In-depth Tax Program and other specialist development courses.
  • Relevant Public Accounting or Tax Consulting Experience: 4 to 5 years of relevant public accounting or tax consulting experience.
  • Extensive Working Knowledge of Canadian Tax: Extensive working knowledge of Canadian Tax.
  • Strong Understanding of Business, Accounting, Management, and Practice Development Principles: Strong understanding of business, accounting, management, and practice development principles.
  • Proven People Management, Relationship Building, and Leadership Skills: Proven people management, relationship building, and leadership skills.
