Deafblind Support Specialist

We are seeking a skilled and compassionate Deafblind Support Specialist to join our team at Sensity Deafblind and Sensory Support Network of Canada. As a Deafblind Support Specialist, you will play a vital role in supporting individuals who are deafblind to live independently and participate fully in their communities.
Key Responsibilities:- Support individuals who are deafblind in their daily living activities, including personal care, meal preparation, and household management.
- Use communication techniques to relay information and facilitate communication between individuals who are deafblind and their support networks.
- Empower individuals who are deafblind to participate and be successful in all aspects of daily living, including personal hygiene, volunteerism, and community engagement.
- Provide personal care as required, including lifts and transfers, toileting, personal hygiene, and medication administration.
- Assist individuals who are deafblind in developing and achieving their goals and objectives.
- Collaborate with other support workers and professionals to ensure comprehensive support and care for individuals who are deafblind.
- Completion of a college diploma or certificate in the Intervenor for Deafblind Persons program or a related human services field.
- Experience supporting individuals with developmental disabilities and challenging behaviors.
- Experience supporting individuals with mental health conditions.
- Communication skills in American Sign Language (ASL) or Signed Exact English (SEE).
- A valid driver's license, access to a reliable vehicle, and a clean current driver's abstract.
- A competitive wage starting at $23.03/hour.
