About the Role
This casual temporary (1 year) full-time position involves recruiting, consenting, enrolling, performing study visits, and other study-related duties to support clinical research studies under the direction of the Lead Clinician-Scientist.
Key Responsibilities
- Recruit research participants from clinics and implement recruitment strategies as required.
- Liaise with healthcare providers at different clinics and community-based organizations for recruitment purposes.
- Screen potential participants and obtain informed consent.
- Maintain essential documents and record keeping.
- Schedule and conduct study visit assessments.
- Dispense trial medications.
- Handle specimens, including collection, labelling, storage, and transport.
- Collect and enter data into the secure electronic data capture system; administer questionnaires.
- Report adverse events and protocol deviations.
- Manage study supplies and maintain inventory.
- Provide honorariums to participants and maintain payment logs.
- Liaise with Finance staff to reconcile honourarium payments.
- Prepare for and participate in monitoring visits.
- Participate in team meetings and report on study enrolment updates.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
Requirements
- A minimum of a Bachelor's degree in Science or Health.
- At least two years of experience in health research settings and/or working on clinical trials is required.
- Familiarity with guiding principles of clinical research involving human participants.
- Expertise in using electronic spreadsheets (e.g., Excel).
- Familiarity with REDCap.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
- Excellent project organization, implementation, and networking skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Demonstrated ability to organize and prioritize workload, handle multiple assignments effectively, and meet deadlines.
- Detail-oriented, organized, with sound judgment.
Compensation
The estimated salary range for this role is $28.86-$31.17 per hour, commensurate with qualifications and experience.
